Every day that we don't act, our communities and ecosystems pay the price in disasters. YOU can help get more people involved in solving the climate crisis NOW. Every dollar you raise will directly fund our Environmental Justice Action Grants.
These 'surprise' grants support organizations that are fighting systemic racism, making progress on environmental and social justice, and providing better accessibility to the outdoors for those who experience barriers on a daily basis.
Organizations led by or working to support people of color and disadvantaged communities are the least funded in American philanthropy. Science has long shown that the negative consequences of climate change are borne disproportionately by people of color. Yet we don’t need science to understand that those communities have been marginalized, penalized, and brutalized by hundreds of years of systemic racism. These grants eliminate barriers by removing burdensome application processes and deliver unrestricted funds where they are needed most.
EXAMPLES FROM PAST GRANTS
$300 - Supported a BIPOC youth in DC to help with the cost jerseys, shirts, shoes, bikes, and travel expenses so they can pursue mountain biking to make the sport more diverse
$500 - Supported a young person involved in environmental and climate justice work in the rural Southwest
$1,000 - Supported efforts to stop polluters in Louisiana
